Winter started a little early in Vermont as Killington Resort became the first resort to open in the United Stated on October 18th 2015. Killington showed off it’s snowmaking prowess by blanketing 2 trails for an impressive early season opening.
I have to say, it was pretty awesome! I didn’t have high expectations driving up, and I’ve never skied in October before, but honestly the snow was really good. Fortunately, I caught a great day with temps in the mid 30’s so for this day, you didn’t have to worry about icy conditions.
Killington does warn you that you have to take a 189-step catwalk from the top of the gondola to reach this skiable terrain, but it was well worth it.
So winter is here in Vermont…and the 15/16 season is officialy off and running. See you on the slopes.
